Day trip from fes to Chefchaouen & Rif Mountains

Day trip / excursion to Chefchaouen & Rif MountainsAfter breakfast in your Riad or hotel, we will drive north to explore an extremely different culture and lifestyle from Fes. Chechaouen is nestled at the feet of the Rif Mountains by which the name Chaouen “horns” has been adopted because of the shape at the top of the mountains; it was founded in 1471 as a small fortress by Moulay Ali Ben Moussa who is a direct descendant of the Prophet Mohammed. Chefchaouen fell under Spanish occupation and was emancipated in 1956.It's known as "blue city" for its traditional buildings. Enjoy a walk to explore the white and blue washed walls of the medina and the markets that offer some unique native handicrafts.Chefchaouen on the old road to Larache. There is also a ruined mosque built by the Spanish, with stairs still in the tower. During the drive back to Fes, you can enjoy nice view of Rif Mountains.

    • fes to marrakech 3 days

Thank you so much to everyone at Marrakech Camel trips for organizing the 3day 2 night tour from Fes to Marrakech. Firstly, it was great coordinating with Brahim and very easy to transfer and book the trip (no hidden costs, you get what you pay for!) I would definitely recommend doing the luxury option just for the amazing accommodation both in the desert and at Dades valley. Our driver Hassan was smart and fun and was always available to guide and entertain us. Overall, it was a very well organized trip and one of the best experiences of my life!

  2. Great way to experience Morocco

We took the four day trip including one night in the desert and two camel rides.

The trip was a great way to see a huge variety of environments Morocco has to offer, from the Atlas Mountains to Berber villages, to the Sahara desert.

Our driver was quite knowledgable about Morocco and Berber culture, and very personable and willing to answer questions, or make a stop whenever we wanted.

The camel rides were ~1.5 hours long each, and are a little rough on the bum. The desert camping wasn't as rough as expected; we slept in legit beds and had multiple blankets since the nights are very cold. But being able to see the Milky Way with your bare eyes helped make up for the biting temperatures.

The four day trip felt a bit front-loaded, and the last two days had less material than the first two days. Maybe the three-day itinerary would be better? It's a lot of driving for three days however..

Overall, very good experience and 10/10 would recommend for visitors
