The Blue City a dream destination. Chefchaouen in Morocco.
The Blue City Chefchaouen in Morocco, It is difficult to find the exact words to describe how infinitely beautiful I found Chefchaouen in Morocco, the Blue City. This Moroccan city was the first African destination we traveled to with our daughter, and it turned out to be one of the best travel decisions of my life. Do you want to know why? My impressions of Chefchaouen
Full of narrow streets and dreamy corners, the Blue City is divinely fantastic, it is not even unreasonable when I tell you that in some of its streets it even seemed that we were in heaven itself, or perhaps submerged in the water? I had not perceived anything like it in all my traveling life.
Unforgettable experience in the Blue City
Truly, and forgive the expression, our experience during these 3 days as a family in the Blue City of Morocco, has been a real blast. Different sensations during our visit invaded us incessantly: relaxation, peace, amazement, and once again relaxation, peace and amazement. 3 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga
First trip to Africa with our daughter
I had a tremendous desire to return to Africa, and this year for the first time we took our daughter. We have tested the ground in this beautiful place, and when I say testing I mean above all, that we wanted to wait a few years to introduce our daughter to such a big cultural change.
Last year we tried Cuba and the experience was wonderful, this year we decided for Morocco and again I have to admit that the experience has been really beautiful.
To travel is to educate
Different culture, different climate, gastronomy, attire, religion, ways of living, ways of expressing oneself, a whole host of qualities that once again defend the theory that “travel is education”, and in this destination I assure you, that the little girl in the family kept asking things like – mom, what is that song that keeps playing every 5 hours?
New posts about Chefchaouen as a family
I will publish during these days much more information, such as how to get to the Blue City from Tangier, where to eat with the kids in Chefchaouen, which Riad to choose to stay, what activities to do in the city, where to find a pool to take a dip, from where to get the best view of the city, and various information, so you can organize your family trip to this, as others call it, Blue Pearl. But for the moment, how about if I tell you where this intense and present blue comes from, which has made the city of Chaouen famous all over the world?
Blue City, symbol of freedom in Morocco
There are several theories that explain why Chefchaouen is blue, some say that it was the Jewish refugees who lived there during 1930 who decided to paint the city blue, because for them this color was a symbol of freedom. Others claim that the reason is not so “romantic” and that thanks to the blue, the city has no mosquitoes. In any case, its inhabitants know that painting the whole city blue has turned out to be striking and attractive for tourists, and once a year they go over facades, streets, floors, cables, mailboxes, doors and a long etcetera so that it continues to dazzle everyone who visits it.
Blue is the protagonist of Chefchaouen
And as you can see in the photographs, the tones are different, lighter, darker, more intense or soft, but always blue, that’s clear, isn’t it?
A divine Moroccan destination
And if I had to summarize my impressions in the Blue City of Chefchaouen with the family I would say that they have been almost “divine”, almost “heavenly” and 100% impressive. A destination that besides being beautiful has proved to be very comfortable and ideal for a first contact with the African continent with the family.
