Winter (November – February): Cold nights in the desert and mountains—bring warm layers, a jacket, gloves, and a scarf.

The official currency is Moroccan Dirham (MAD).

Bring cash for small purchases, tips, and places where cards may not be accepted.

ATMs are available in major cities but not in remote desert areas.

Be prepared for long drives, especially when traveling from Marrakech to Merzouga (around 9-10 hours). Roads through the Atlas Mountains have sharp curves—if you get motion sickness, take precautions. Your tour vehicle will be a comfortable 4×4 or minivan, but some off-road sections can be bumpy.
You’ll stay in riads, hotels, and desert camps. Most accommodations have Wi-Fi, but the desert camp may have limited signal. Some camps offer luxury tents with private bathrooms, while others have shared facilities. Expect magical starlit skies and Berber music around the campfire!
Camel rides to the desert camp are included, but if you prefer, you can request a 4×4 transfer instead. Dress comfortably for the ride, and wear long pants for comfort.
