The Sunset in Merzouga desert itinerary

The tour of the Merzouga sunset camel trek begins at least one hour before dusk. Riding a camel to the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi takes nearly thirty minutes.

After leaving the camels, we will travel 80 meters to the top of Erg Chebbi Merzouga’s dune. One must ascend to the summit in order to see a panoramic vista.

It takes an additional ten minutes to reach the summit. The area surrounding the camel’s “parking lot” is ideal for viewing the sunset if you would rather not hike the higher dunes. Enjoy the sunset, then head back to the village, making a stop at the gardens if you would like.

We enjoyed this brief time together and made our way back to the village just before dusk.

A camel ride in the dunes is an essential part of any journey to Morocco’s desert. For individuals who find great fascination in the caravans that traversed the African deserts to deliver essential goods like salt to fabled towns, here’s your chance to experience a brief moment of being a nomad.

You will have happy recollections of losing yourself for eternity on this adventure, which is well worth the effort. Imagine yourself walking through the Sahara desert while perched atop a camel.

The only sound you can hear is the camel’s gentle sand footprints. There is nothing else around you. During the day, the sky is big, clear, and full of Countless brilliant stars at night. The majority of visitors are hardly aware of this serene experience.

The best part of our trip was the camel journey to our desert tent and the breathtaking scenery we were met with. I would without a doubt suggest this tour!

through the Atlas Mountains to Merzouga and the Sahara Desert Camp (with camel ride - highly recommend & choose the luxury camp) to Fes, Volubilis, Chefchaouen, Rabat, and Casablanca. Marrakech Camel Trips arranged everything for us from airport transfers to the riads we stayed in to the activities we participated in. The restaurants they organized for lunch were (mostly) very delicious and the riads we stayed in each night prepared a traditional (I think) and excellent Moroccan dinner for us.

A special thanks goes to our guide Mubarak, who is an excellent driver, a well-prepared guide and a very nice person. We enjoyed our time in the minibus, we liked the scenery and landscape. We loved our camel ride to the desert and our experience at the tent camp. It was great to learn some tips about the Berber culture.
