Place to visit in Morocco
Fes
Fez is the oldest of the four cities that occupied Morocco’s capitals in the past, located in the middle of a fertile valley of the Fez River surrounded by hills, where it was founded on each side of the river in a separate form: the East was founded by Idriss I in 789, the West was founded by Idris II in 809, and later the two sides were established under the rule of the Almoravid state during the eleventh century.Around Fez there are hills on all sides covered by forest filled with trees, and around them there are vast land suitable for agriculture, with many vineyards, orchards, olive trees and pastures of sheep, goats and cows .
The city of Fez is divided into three sections: Fez ElBali, New Fez and the New City. The atmosphere is characterized by the heat of summer and cold winter, and mild in autumn and spring, where the number of tourists arriving in these two seasons, and the purpose of tourism is often to see the ancient monuments of Fez, its palaces and buildings, or prepare for international demonstrations held to fight or address a particular intellectual issue. The city of Fez is divided into three sections. The first is Fez al-Bali, the ancient city considered to be the most ancient in history, where the Village Mosque (the oldest mosque in the Maghreb) and the associated Village Al Quarawiyin University (the oldest university in the world) are built, and Fez bali contains many hotels. The New Fez, built by the marinids during the 13th century, contains the Royal Palace of the marinid Period as well as the Great Mosque, where the city’s old Jewish quarter, which its inhabitants abandoned to Israel in 1948, is located. Finally, the new city, founded by French colonizers in 1916, is located in a train station and most of the city’s industrial facilities
Ifrane
Ifrane is one of the best places to enjoy the mild weather, making it a park for many Moroccan families, both from the same city and from residents of the regions. The cities of Fez and Meknes, as wild-fishing enthusiasts practice their hobby during the autumn in the city areas, not only the people of Morocco, but also those coming from abroad, and in winter and autumn the city also sees a demand from foreign tourists. For skiing, there is more than one winter stop for the sport, such as: Michellifen Station, which has resorts and restaurants, and a beginner’s ski training service, and during the spring the beautiful city is gorgeous in its green look, bright spring colors, while also available around the city stunning roaring waterfalls.
Ouarzazate
Undoubtedly, the city of Ouarzazate is an iconic spot in the middle of a harsh desert in the deep south, it is far-famed with the its time-honored history, an indisputable proof of this history is still present in the Kasbahs, the oldest buildings not only in the city, but also in Morocco or even in the whole world, for instance, the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou was built in about 650 years ago and still having the same appearance thanks torestoration works, it is where you can see how life of the old settlers in the area used to be. Ouarzazate was a crossing-point for African traders acrossnorth Africa and Europe. Abdullah Al-Warzazi helped Saadi to take control over Daraa Tafilalet, and during the French period. The majority of Ouarzazate inhabitants are Berber-speakers, so it has given its name from a Berber word which means without noise. Nowadays, the city of Ouarzazate is home to some major touristic stations such kasbahs, palm tree oasis and cinema studios, the city is a perfect location for movie-making. Also it has broad streets, luxurioushotels destined to receive intensive tourism.
Merzouga
Merzouga, a desert them park, has a worldwide reputation of being a targeted tourist destination par excellence, it is a small village in the southeast Sahara Desert of Morocco, it is 35 Kilometers away from Erissani. Merzouga has such huge golden sand dunes, but underground it contains the largest underground water in morocco. Theold storiestells that Merzouga was once a prosperous garden and a beautiful forest, one day an old woman asks the inhabitants for help and they did not help her, so God punished them by turning their heaven into hell, and buried them in the dunes. as for many people now, Moroccans or Tourists, Merzouga is still heaven with its vast sand dunes, where to experience new adventures of mad driving of Quad, carts and four wheel drive, in addition to camel riding, stunning sunset and sunrise as well as magical night under the shining stars.
Marrakech
Marrakech is one of the four imperial impressive cities of Morocco, it is nicknamedas “the pearl of the south” or “the Red City”. It has an impressive history and was probably founded in 1062 by Abu Bakr, the cousin of Almoravid king Yusuf IbnTashfin who built several monuments in Marrakech. Today the red city definitely offers all that you could ask for. It is a huge sophisticated city by all means.Yet, it still possesses the historical moments, which are symbols it is known for. Marrakech Medina to Bahia palace, Jamaa Elfna, Koutoubia Mosque andBadii Palace are among these places where history of Marrakech is still alive, and they give million reasons why to prlong the visit to Marrakech. Jamaa Elfna as already mentioned, is one of the famous places in Marrakech, the square is an amazing place to catch human storytelling, it is always congested, vibrant, and also it is considered to be a place where people show their talents. At night it turns to be like a big restaurant, smoke all over the place of delicious meals. The Koutoubia Mosque can be seen from JamaaElfna Square, it is only few minutes away, and it reveals the beautiful architecture of the old founders with the creative inscriptions
Tinghir
Certainly, the city of Tinghir imposes a place of honor among the other touristic cities in Morocco thanks to the spectacular scenery of the vast oasis, and the extraordinary backdrop ofelevated rockywalls in Toudgha Gorges. Whenever someone thinks of Tinghir city, Toudgha Gores come to his mind automatically, the river flows with sparling water, and it hasengraved cliff-sided canyons of 10 meters width. The center city of Tinghir is beautiful, the people are always busy with their daily activities, which sound endless, and mostof them are Berber-speakers friendly and easy-going. At the top of the foothill, there are hotelswhere to enjoy the full view of the small city and the palm tree oasis around it
EXCELLENT Based on 795 reviews Posted on Austin WVerified Hope to come back one day! Awesome experience. Unfortunately our flight in was delayed, causing us to arrive late. However, our guide Ali adapted the itinerary with the time we had and showed us an amazing time. Merzouga, Rissani’s Souk and the mountain views of the High Atlas were absolutely incredible.Posted on Mikel MVerified Travel from Marrakech to Merzouga in 5 days. Hello,I just did a tour with Marrakech Camel Trips, starting in Marrakech, going through the Atlases and arriving at Merzouga Antler. It has been a very complete journey where we have been able to see and live a very positive experience with our guide Salah. Culture, landscapes, customs, amazing hotels... everything we have seen has fascinated us. The service they offer is highly recommended. The initial contact with Brahim was exceptional, and his clear and quick answers led us to choose this agency for our tour, as he helped us from the beginning with the different doubts and questions we had. Salah’s fellowship, and his professionalism also deserve a mention, no doubt. He kept an eye on us at all times and helped us a lot with the different plans we had in mind. A first rate guide!!Thank you for everything and I hope we will see you again very soon!! Good luck!!Posted on Kepa AVerified Very positive experience. From the magical Sahara camel ride to exploring vibrant cities. Our guide Barak made the experience truly special, warm, knowledgeable and caring. We always felt safe, welcomed, and inspired. A trip of a lifetime. Thank you Barak.Posted on Andrew BVerified Great Four Day Tour We had a great time on the 4 day Desert Tour. Ali, our driver/guide, did a great job getting us places safely and we had fun riding with him. We learned a lot about Morocco on the trip. We really enjoyed riding dromadaries (camels) to the camp. The camp had everything we needed. The sunrise was beautiful. Thanks again to Ali for a wonderful time.Posted on debclare03Verified Great Morrocan experience The trip to Morocco And the Sahara was fabulous thanks to the guide Barak. One is always apprehensive travelling into a remote foreign country from our Canadian homeland. Barak made us feel very safe and we'll respected. He also made the trek very enjoyable with his great sense of humour and story telling. Barak is a local Berber who is extremely proud of his country and well connected to the people. He was easily able to tell us about both historic and present conditions. We became aware of the traditions and customs through his guidance. The itinerary was great with wonderful accomodations and food, grand sites and experiences. The trip was long due to the vast distances we covered to ride the camels in the Sahara which was an absolute surreal experience culminating in glamping.I highly recommend the tour company with Barrack as the guide.Posted on Jodi AVerified 5 star experience Don’t hesitate booking a trip with Marrakech Camel Trips. You will get five star treatment and you will have the best and most memorable time of your life! Our tour guide, Elhoucine was so kind, professional, and truly the best. He didn’t miss a beat. I can’t tell you enough how wonderful our experience was. We started our 7 day tour off in Casablanca where we’re picked up right on time from our Airbnb. We then headed to Chefchaouen where we had a beautiful day touring the city on our own with his recommendations. We stayed at a cute little Riad and had a delicious breakfast. Then we headed to Fes with a quick stop in Meknes. He brought us to some really cool places to see local artisans, making pottery and leather. Then we went through the Dades valley and ultimately to Marrakech. Everything from start to finish was top-notch. The driving from each location was probably our most favorite because we stopped at some really cool places and got to see a lot in a short amount of time. Having lunch with our tour guide was so fun as well! He would take us to local places. I always felt safe and never got sick from eating the local food. This trip was truly amazing and that was because Marrakech Camel Trips was so totally organized and have the best vehicle for the guests and the best tour guides. Communication was always perfect and really with the tour guide and made our trip so much better. When we return to Marrakesh we are definitely going to go with Marrakech Camel Trips for all of our Morocco adventures. We have already recommended them to many of our friends and family.Posted on Sérgio MVerified a great experience that I definitely recommend We really enjoyed the whole tour experience and our private guide Idir. All the places we visited were absolutely worth it.Our stay at the Riad in Dades and the Premium tent in the desert both exceeded our expectations – very comfortable, with staff who were always attentive and genuinely friendly. The camel ride was just a bit longer and more uncomfortable than we had expected, but overall everything was great. The return journey is quite long and tiring, but still manageable.Overall, a great experience that I definitely recommend – you won’t regret it!Posted on Leon OVerified 4 days > 3 days - Mubarak is the best! My girlfriend and I completed a 4 day tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga Desert and back, and this was the way to do it. I would recommend the extra day as it breaks up the long drive and allows you to take more time to enjoy the sights. Mubarak was a great guide, taking us to various lookouts and points of interest along the way. He was very informative, telling us all about the Berber people, the different trades and agricultural practices, and pointing out different crops and livestock. Travelling around in his car was a much better experience than all the large busses, and Mubarak was more than happy to do whatever we asked of him. We couldn’t have had a better time! In the desert, camel riding, sandboarding, and quad biking are experiences that you should not pass up on. In Ouarzazate, I would say skip the studio tour unless you’re a big fan of a particular movie. Be prepared for 5+ hours a day driving as it can get a little tiresome.Posted on Kashmala HVerified Marrakech to Merzouga private tour We did the 4 day Marrakech to Merzouga tour with Mubarak, he was a wonderful guide and driver we felt safe and he was happy to answer any questions we had along the way. The accommodations are nice and clean, and the views on the drive were incredible. We overall felt the value for money was good considering we got driven around privately the entire time, didn’t have to plan anything and the camel ride and dinners/breakfast was included. We booked through whatsapp and were a bit apprehensive but Brahim is very professional and trustworthy. One thing that could be improved is lunch stops, they were sometimes at very touristy places with higher prices and set menus. It seems the tour is what you want it to be, so I think if you have places you want to go it’s better to be vocal and tell your driver early and they would be happy to comply. Also, payment can be hard if you don’t have the ability to get cash out (a lot of the ATMs don’t give out more than 1000MAD and my card was always denied so my partner could only get out cash). Therefore we ended up paying quite a bit in a surcharge which could’ve been avoided if we had planned in advance to get enough cash. The cost of a private tour is convenience and comfort, and we felt this was worth it. Thank you!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
