Walkthrough the most authentic streets of the medinas, bargain in their markets, contemplate the palaces, relax in a hammam and stay in a riad where you will want to stay a thousand and one nights. There are plenty of reasons to visit the north of Morocco in 4 days.
A little more than an hour flight (from Spain) we find an exotic country like few others.
To travel to Morocco is to teleport to a time when the squares are filled with stalls, the smell of spices floats in the air, people stroll leisurely with their caftans and snake charmers attract the eyes of those who pass by, either walking or on donkey carts.
Morocco is a vibrant country that leaves no one indifferent. It is a country to live it without haste and to which you will want to return more than once.

What to see in northern Morocco in 4 days
For a long time, I had in my mind to visit the blue village of Chefchaouen, so as soon as I managed to get together a few days of holiday I took a ticket and organized a small route that included the most interesting things to see in the north of Morocco in 4 days. This time Oscar didn’t have a vacation and it was a friend who accompanied me on my adventure.
➡️ Our itinerary through northern Morocco looked like this:
Day 1: Arrival in Tangier. Visit to Asilah and Tangier. Overnight in Tetouan.
Day 2: visit Tetouan in the morning and Chefchaouen in the afternoon. Overnight in Chefchaouen.
Day 3: visit to Chefchaouen. Overnight in Tangier.
Day 4: flight to Valencia.
Our initial idea was not to make a circular route but to go down through Meknes and Fez and return to Valencia from there. But we know how Ryanair is, the flight went up 70 euros from morning to night literally. So we left Fez for next time.
➡️ If you have more days of vacation I recommend you to do this 7 days Morocco trip, where in addition to the cities I mentioned above you can also visit Marrakech, Fez, Casablanca, Rabat, and Meknes. Or you can also enjoy Morocco in 8 days.

Preparations to visit the north of Morocco in 4 days
Although Morocco is a country that is just a short hop away (for those who live in Spain), we must remember that we changed the continent.
I leave you some practical information so that you can organize your trip to Morocco.
Things to know before traveling to Morocco
Local time: time zone GMT + 0 (one hour less than in Spain).
Language: Arabic and French and ingles. Many speak Spanish.
Plugs: 220v, European standard.
Currency: Moroccan dirham. Always carry cash because you can not pay by card everywhere.
Visa: Spaniards do not need a visa. Other countries check HERE.
Vaccinations to travel to Morocco: if you travel from Spain you will not need any vaccination. What I do recommend is to drink bottled water and try not to eat the food of dubious origin (although seeing how the meat is hanging in the streets this is very difficult).
Is it safe to travel to Morocco?
As I always say I think safety is often common sense. Morocco is a quiet country and you can walk down the street without fear, but obviously, you should not leave the tourist areas or go out at dawn.
I have been twice in the country, once several years ago in Marrakech and this last time doing the route through the North of Morocco and I have not had any problem.
We were two girls alone and we were treated phenomenally. So just take good care of your belongings and do not go into lonely areas.
Do I need travel insurance to visit Morocco?
Although Morocco is very close to Spain, we must not forget that it belongs to Africa and, therefore, we absolutely consider taking out travel insurance, remember that it is very easy to suffer from gastroenteritis there, as hygiene in many of the bars leaves much to be desired, so it is better not to gamble.
We always travel with Iati Seguros, as it is undoubtedly the best value for money and they have always responded excellently when we have had any problems. We leave you a 5% discount for being our readers. ❤️
When is the best time to travel to Morocco?
The best time to travel to Morocco is spring, although September and October are good months because temperatures are milder.
Anyway, this will depend on the cities you visit. We did the route through the north of Morocco in August and we only had hot weather in Chefchaouen.
But towards the south of the country temperatures soar in summer. I went to Marrakech in July a few years ago and the heat was unbearable.Viajes al Desierto Marruecos
How to get around northern Morocco
The best way to get around Morocco is by road, as the distances are not too great and the roads are quite acceptable.
There are buses that connect the main cities of Morocco and their price is very low, but the schedules are not usually very long and they are often late. I would only use this option in case of have many days in the country or a very low budget.
Undoubtedly, the best way to get around is by car. Either in private or shared cabs, hiring a driver (which costs about 100 euros per day) or renting a car.
Is it advisable to rent a car to visit the north of Morocco in 4 days?
If you decide to rent a car you will find many local companies very cheap, but don’t trust them because they don’t have full insurance and they drive very badly (you just have to see the state of the cars). I recommend you to book with Autoeurope that works with serious companies and has very good prices with full coverage.
How to get to Morocco
There are many cities in Morocco that receive international flights: Tangier, Marrakech, Rabat, Casablanca, Fez…
If you live in Spain, Ryanair flies to several Moroccan cities at low prices if you book in advance.
Your gateway to and from Morocco will depend on the route you want to take and the time you have available.
On this route through the north of Morocco, it is best to fly to Fez or Tangier. But if you go to the south it is more convenient to fly to Marrakech.
One of the best ways to get to your hotel from the airport is to hire a private transfer service. A driver will be waiting for you at the airport gate with a sign with your name on it.
Our hotels on the route through northern Morocco
Riad el Reducto Tetouan: a beautiful hotel run by Spaniards, with exquisite decoration and an exceptional treatment located in the heart of the medina of Tetouan. The restaurant is also excellent, both dinner and breakfast. To repeat.
Dar Sababa Chefchaouen: located in the middle of the medina and very close to the most photographed points of Chefchaouen. The rooms were very basic but clean.
Dar el Kasbah Eastern Telegraph Company: this recently renovated hotel is just outside the Kasbah of Tangier, so it has an excellent location. Within 30 seconds you are inside the medina, but not in the middle of the maze which was just what we needed as our flight was leaving early the next day. The rooms are very spacious, modern and comfortable. It has a very nice terrace, with a restaurant but we did not get to eat there.
